Intro:
Hi there, I am Connor Krause, a student attending Dauphin County Technical School. I am a student in the Web Development and Design program. I experience many different types of different occurrences during the day, so I thought I would write a brief description of my daily life as a web developer at DCTS. That being said, lets begin.

7:00 – 9:00:
My day starts off at 7:15 am. I usually start the day by eating breakfast at the cafeteria and talking with my friends. After eating my breakfast and talking with my friends, I go to my IE Period at 7:35 or so. Once I’m there, I either complete work for my classes or do something to gain more knowledge. I either read comics online and books or play on my 3ds until 9 am when the bell rings for me to go to my next class.

9:00 – 11:00:
When I get to class, I set up my computer and workspace. After I set up my computer, I usually chat with the people next to me while checking our schoology page. After that, Mr. Choate gets our attention and starts the lesson for the day. He usually uses Nearpod for his lessons but might use the whiteboard instead. Sometimes during the lesson, we do things like Blookets, Gimkits, or Kahoots. He usually uses Gimkits because they offer constant questions during the session. This allows me and my classmates to memorize either the vocabulary words or functions of code easily and efficiently. After the lesson, I get to work on my assigned tasks.
These assignments are usually related to things we learned during the lesson. For instance, a couple of weeks ago during class, we learned more about project management and all the roles that are used in actual web developer projects. That week, we were also assigned a project management assignment. We were to get into groups of two to three people. I grouped up with my friends Demetrius and Bryce. During the project, I played the role of Marketing Specialist.
During the project, I learned more about market specialists and what they do. Marketing specialists work with their companies and clients to achieve success through awareness of the products or services that they offer. I fulfilled my job as a marketing specialist by scheduling interviews with my clients and asking about their services. I was able to get an interview with two of my clients and get some pictures of their workplace. My groupmate Demetrius was the front-end developer. Demetrius’s job was to be the main person that was building the website.
He built our website by using Elementor and WordPress. I would say that he did a good job with building the website, he made sure that the website worked as was needed and added things that the client requested or things that we were told to include in our website. My other groupmate was Bryce. His job was designing the website.
He designed our website using Dauphin County Technical School’s main color palette. He also made sure our paragraphs were satisfactory and that the images fit the context of the paragraphs. Even if we didn’t do a lesson that week, Mr. Choate will still assign work to us. The work just touches more on what we learned the week before. Once the clock strikes 11 am, my class heads to lunch.

11:00-11:35:
At lunch, we eat our lunch in the cafeteria. I usually talk with my friends from other shops. I usually eat lunch at one of the booths. Once I’ve eaten the rest of my lunch, I play on my phone or 3Ds and talk to my friends till lunch ends.

11:35-2:50:
After lunch, I go back to class to finish up any work that I didn’t finish before lunch. After I get done with that, I start doing my participation. Participation is just a summary of what we learned during the day. I recall what I learned about during class or remember things that I learned while completing the assignments given to me by Mr. Choate.
Occasionally during the month, we are given Discovery Days. Discovery Day is a day when we learn more about our interests. As long as your topic is somewhat web-related, you can research and learn about anything. For example, on our last discovery day, I learned more about photography.
My class went out to walk on the nature path and to take pictures with the high-tech cameras that we got to use. I took photos of my friends, nature, and squirrels. Later, I researched more about photography and how things like lighting or setting affect how people see the picture. For instance, a bright light can add a happier mood to your photo, but a dimmer photo can make people view your photo as sad. Much like lighting, Setting can affect how viewers see your photo. People will view a photo in nature as a happy picture, while photos underground or inside a building will be viewed as depressed or confined.
Both lighting and setting influence how viewers receive a photo, how they feel looking at your photo, and what they can infer about you from the photo. After I get done with my participation, I talk with my friends and work on my next blog post. I continue this until the bell rings, signaling me to go down to the cafeteria to be dismissed to my bus so I can ride to my home.

After School:
After school, once I get home, I dive into school work, making sure to stay on top of my assignments. While I work, I often play video games, watch my favorite TV shows, or read a good book, allowing myself to unwind and enjoy some entertainment. Around 11pm, I get ready for the next day and go to sleep. Thanks for reading my blog about my life attending DCTS. Visit my other blogs here!
